Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson models

This collection contains red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson pistols and revolvers without a factory optic cut. The mount replaces the rear sight, with no slide milling or permanent modifications.

Which mount fits which model

• M&P and M&P M2.0: one mount family, also for the M2.0 Compact and Shield variants. Toni System type A and B, Outer Impact type C and type S. See Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson M&P and Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0.
• M&P Shield EZ (9 mm and .380): a type S mount, also for the Performance Center models. See Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm EZ.
• SD9 VE and SD40 VE: Outer Impact type C and S. See Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson SD9 VE.

• Revolvers: mounts for the 686, 629, 19, 66, 586 and many other models. They take the Trijicon RMR or the Shield RMSc footprint. The revolver must be suitable for a S&W scope mount, which all new drilled and tapped frames are. See Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson revolvers.

Footprints

Outer Impact type C fits Trijicon RMR, C-More RTS and Docter. Type S fits Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Holosun K-series.

Toni System uses type letters for sets of footprints. Type A fits Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Docter. Type B fits Trijicon RMR and C-More RTS.

Installation

Drift the rear sight out of the dovetail with a sight pusher or a punch. Push the mount into the same dovetail and fix it. Then screw the red dot onto the mount. No slide milling or permanent modifications are needed. See Installation tools.

Frequently asked questions

Can I put a red dot on my Smith & Wesson without an optic cut?

Yes. The mount goes into the rear sight dovetail in place of the rear sight. No milling and no permanent changes, so you can put the rear sight back at any time.

Can I install the mount at home?

Yes, if you have a sight pusher or a punch.

1. Drift the rear sight out of the dovetail.
2. Push the mount into the dovetail and tighten it.
3. Screw the red dot onto the mount with a drop of threadlocker on each screw.

Which red dots will fit?

It depends on the mount you choose. Every mount takes one footprint or a group of footprints. For Smith & Wesson we have mounts for the Trijicon RMR, Shield RMSc, Holosun K-series, Leupold DPP, Docter and C-More RTS footprints.

Find the footprint of your red dot in its specifications and take the mount that names it.

Does the M&P mount fit my M2.0 Compact?

Yes. The M&P mount family also fits the M2.0, including the Compact and Shield variants.

Can I put a red dot on my S&W revolver?

Yes, if your revolver takes a S&W scope mount. All new frames that are drilled and tapped do.
